Kutno Foundry obtained a PLN 6 million subsidy from EU funds!

The Kutno Foundry has been granted a subsidy of over PLN 6 million from EU funds for the purposes of the implementation of an innovative project within the Smart Growth Operational Programme.

The objective of the project is to develop process innovation in the form of machining technology for thin-walled iron castings of a complex shape and developed surface, supported by advanced quality control techniques.

It will be carried out by means of industrial research and experimental development within the scope of metallurgy, casting, machining, process automation, quality control methods and techniques, as well as expert software based on AI elements. The final outcome of the planned R&D activities will be a complete and verified technological process covering the stages of initial quality control of rough casting, comprehensively supervised and monitored machining of cast iron components along with tailing recycling, as well as a final measurement review of the castings. The main deliverable of the project will meet the needs related to technologies – both currently used and planned to be used in production practice. Furthermore, these technologies emerge as an answer to the market needs expressed by the automotive branch and manufacturers of vehicles and special machines – such solutions facilitate the production of geometrically complex and thin-walled iron castings made of grey and ductile cast iron by casting into bentonite moulds and further machining combined with quality control, which will close the entire production process.

Horizontal production line to be launched in the Kutno Foundry

Horizontal production line to be launched in the Kutno Foundry

One of the next stages of the planned technical and technological development of the Kutno Foundry in 2019 was to launch a horizontal production line.

Today, we can announce the successful completion of intensive efforts of the maintenance and production teams that took several months. In October, the line was commissioned for batch production, increasing Foundry’s capacity by 8,000 tonnes/year. Production resumption was possible due to the adaptation of the already functioning modelling of the previous operating line and new projects.

Technical parameters of the line and its capacity make it possible to plan and continue production activities at lower costs compared to the previous line.

The newly launched line increased Foundry‘s competitiveness in terms of functioning parts and new projects being currently developed by the Commercial Department.

New investments in Saga Poland!

New investments in Saga Poland!

The K-510 machine by Frech improved Saga’s machinery stock located in the main production hall.

The machine was commissioned in January and the production process started on 15 February. Our plans include the addition of a mass finishing machine along with a centrifugal dryer and a station for packing parts in the one-piece flow system to the workcell. The purchase and start-up of the new foundry machinery was necessary to ensure the continuous production of enlarged volume of orders that we have received from our customers.

Kutno Foundry had the honour to play host to the Mayor of Kutno.

In February, for the first time, one of our companies – the Kutno Foundry – had the honour to be visited by the Mayor of Kutno.

The guests had an opportunity to witness the rate at which the company and learn more about our ambitious plans for the future.  More
