Voluntary service gives a chance for self-fulfilment, offers valuable experience and new competences, such as team work, project management, or budget management skills. We are glad we can assist young people in their development.
We thank the Foundation for the Development of the Education System for this great news and the Ius et Civis Foundation for the support they provided in drafting the application.
Letnia Akademia Survivalowa – another project for Luma Foundation
45 children, divided into two groups, participated in a trip full of adventures and challenges.
The theme of our activities in Luma Foundation is the protection of natural environment, so that the future generation can enjoy beautiful and diversified nature, as we can now.
By taking kids to the forest, showing them the beauty of nature, its power, but also sensitivity of wildlife, we teach them respect for the surrounding. We hope that in the future it is going to fructify, as TOGETHER we can do something good!
LuNa Smelter had the honour to host the representatives of the Polish Ministry of Finance. The delegation was headed by Magdalena Rzeczkowska – Polish Minister of Finance. LuNa Smelter executives Trevor Faber, Łukasz Banasik, and Joseph Butera presented the production potential of the company and the plans for further development of the added value generation in East Africa, what represents one of the main pillars of Luma Holding Green Tin Project. Metallurgical knowledge transfer, organised from the Polish assets of Luma Holding Ltd, Re Alloys , to LuNa Smelter has been an important factor in the Kigali-based smelter development and production success.
Safe lanyards for employee identification cards are going to replace those standard ones. That is going to prevent the risk of being drawn into a machine while a lanyard is snatched. This solution, although cheap and easy, can safe somebody’s health or even life.
Even the smallest change can make a huge difference. The KAIZEN idea once again yielded a perfect solution for increasing safety of our staff.
It is also worth noting that the lanyards have been made of recycled material.
We are delighted to show you the coverage on upcycling workshops we carried out at the end of May.
Upcycling – that is giving a second life to old or used things, is a great idea for preventing overproduction and relieving our planet
What we did was inviting children and adults for the workshops on upcycling of clothing and textiles, showing that redesigning clothes not only gives them new glare, but also may be a great fun and creative way of spending your free time. Paints, sequins, patches, iron-on pieces — they all can save a T-shirt, which is no longer interesting for us, or a stained dress, from ending up in the waste bin and by this make them still serve us for a long time. The workshops were accompanied by a garage sale where the participants could exchange clothes, toys, books, board games — everything we do not use any more and what others may need.
By taking up such initiatives we want to make the youngest aware of our responsibility for the natural environment. We really hope that this kind of campaigns will ultimately bring smaller landfills.
The events were organised within the “Luma Foundation paints the town green” project financed from the funds of the National Freedom Institute — Centre for Civil Society Development, under the Governmental Programme: Civic Initiatives Fund for 2021-2023.
We are glad to spill the beans a little that we have been granted aid for implementation of a project within the FIO “Śląskie Lokalnie” civil initiatives fund.
Only 90 out of 600 submitted project were granted subsidy. The competition was strong, that is why we are delighted with this achievement.
Soon we will share some more details on the project.
We are glad to announce that recently Odlewnia Kutno successfully passed the recertification process of the Integrated Management System in line with ISO9001 and 14001 standards.
Our mission is to produce castings that meet our customers’ expectations – high quality products manufactured in a timely manner, but at the same time with respect for our employees, process and quality standards, continual improvement and natural environment.
