LuNa Smelter is pleased to announce that it has received confirmation from the Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board (RMB) of the granting of four Large Scale Mining Licenses (LSML) and one exploration license in Gatsibo and Kayonza Districts of the Eastern Province, Rwanda. The 4 LSM’s cover an area of 1 400 Ha and include the rights to extract cassiterite, coltan and wolfram. LuNa Smelter’s Managing Director, Joseph Butera commented “The granting of the four LSML’s represents a significant milestone for LuNa Smelter. The Company has spent several years exploring the Eastern Province for strategic minerals, and we are excited to be given an opportunity to produce cassiterite for feed to our tin smelter in Kigali and as we also look for continuation of the exploration campaign on the land”.

Representing the LuNa Smelter Board of Directors, the Chairman, Lukasz Banasik remarked “The Board of Directors is thrilled to receive the 4 Large Scale Mining Licenses from RMB. The development of our own mines in Rwanda confirms our commitment to Rwanda and makes LuNa one of the few truly vertically integrated tin producers in the world. This milestone is a culmination of Luma Holdings commitment to the highest ESG principals and from this we will be able to produce LME quality tin with the world’s lowest greenhouse gas footprint”.
